The basic 10.2-inch iPad from 2021 is still good. It doesn't have the new design or USB-C support of other iPad lines, but the performance value makes this iPad worth picking up for kids. This is our pick for the best budget iPad. The list price is reasonable, but you can buy the 64GB model even cheaper on Amazon right now. Get it for $249 and save $80. If you want the same model with two years of Apple Care, you can buy it for $318, which is also a savings of $80.

Apple's latest iPad has a faster processor, a landscape-centric camera for better video chats, a larger screen, and USB-C charging. However, you need a weird dongle to charge the Apple Pencil (and the Pencil 2 isn't supported). Apple costs $449 for the 64GB model and $599 for the 256GB model.

The iPad Mini received a complete overhaul last year. The new design has rounded edges, thin bezels, and no home button. The power button on the side now features Touch ID, and the Lightning port has been replaced with a USB-C charging port. This 6th generation Mini is powered by the A15 Bionic chip (the same as the iPhone 13), has an improved and slightly larger 8.3-inch display, and a better camera than the older 5th generation Mini. Save $99 on the 64GB model. As for the 256GB model, there's a $99 discount, bringing it down to $550.

Launched last year, the 10.9-inch iPad Air features a fast M1 chip, an auto-zooming Center Stage front camera, and feels almost identical to the iPad Pro, except for the display. If you think the Pro is too expensive, this is our favorite midrange iPad model. Clip the on-screen coupon now to save $100 on the 64GB model.
